Las Virgenes Man Accused of Killing Agoura Hills’ Woman’s Dog

April 12, 2010

Police arrested Rommel Marzan of Las Virgenes on suspicion of animal cruelty after he allegedly killed the dog of an ex-girlfriend and dumped the body in a San Fernando Valley dumpster

Marzan, 44, told investigators he had fallen on the small Maltese, but a veterinarian who examined the canine’s body determined the dog died from blunt head trauma.

Marzan, an engineer with the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District, allegedly called the woman, an Agoura Hills resident, and told her he had accidentally killed the dog and dumped its body after panicking about the situation. He told the same story to police when they interviewed him, but they found his story suspicious.

Marzan posted bail. His employer has also placed him on leave.
