Fallen Soldier Remembered
September 3, 2010
Hundreds of people gathered Wednesday night at the Westlake High School football field to remember A.J. Castro.
βHe was one of the nicest students I ever knew here,β said John Ford to the Ventura County Star, as he stood with a candle in his hand and recalled U.S. Army Spc. Andrew Jordan βA.J.β Castro.
The 2008 Westlake High School graduate was killed Saturday by an improvised explosive device.
Castro, 20, who was the son of former booster club president Hectro Castro was a U.S. Army Specialist in the 101st Airborne Division.
Last year, former Westlake Football player, Frankie Toner, 26, who was a Navy lieutenant, died in Afghanistan.
