Agoura Hills Synagogue May Close
June 16, 2010
Temple Beth Haverim may close as soon as June 30, 2010 due to financial difficulties.
The synagogue, which began operations in 1984, is unable to continue paying the mortgage on its building and land. If an agreement is not reached with the loan holder, Reliance Trust Company of Atlanta, GA, both the synagogue and the Conejo Jewish Day School, with whom is shares the property, could be forced to relocate.
Past temple president and longtime member, Martin Spiegel, believes that the City of Agoura would like to purchase the property from Reliance Trust to build a recreation center.
